Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) (www.positivecoach.org) is a national nonprofit organization founded at the Stanford University Department of Athletics in 1998 to create a movement to “transform youth sports so sports can transform youth.” Through partnerships with more than 1,100 schools and youth sports organizations (YSOs), PCA has conducted 6,000+ workshops for leaders, coaches, parents and athletes on using sports to teach life lessons. PCA is headquartered in Mountain View, CA, with offices in Chicago, Dallas, Honolulu, Houston, Los Angeles, Milwaukee, New Jersey, New York City, Sacramento, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C.
Program Associate
Description
The Program Associate will work out of PCA’s National Headquarters in Mountain View, CA and report to the Program Manager. The Program Associate serves as a key member of the program team and is responsible for working on key programs and events including the National Youth Sports Awards Dinner and Auction, Triple-Impact Competitor Scholarship Awards Events, and Silicon Valley Shootout Basketball Tournament.
Responsibilities
- Serve as primary contact for student-athlete scholarship applicants and coach award program nominees; manage and execute the application process and track application progress
- Provide support in event planning and execution for PCA events at Stanford and across the country in PCA’s markets
- Serve as point of contact for event participants, corporate partners and speakers (past events featured PCA National Spokesperson Phil Jackson; Steve Young; Doc Rivers; Summer Sanders and Alex Smith)
- Draft program materials, presentations and program reports
- Additional duties include mass-mailings, database management and general administrative tasks
Qualifications
- Knowledge of and a passion for sports
- A commitment to PCA’s mission to transform the culture of youth sports is essential
- Highly organized, detail oriented and able to multi-task
- Self-starter with the ability to work in a team environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in Excel; experience with Microsoft Word mail-merge is a plus
- Ability to suggest and take lead on special projects to help improve programs and events
- College Degree
- Occasional evening and weekend work

Partnership Sales Representative (San Francisco Bay Area)

The Partnership Sales Representative is responsible for prospecting, qualifying, developing and closing partnership opportunities in the San Francisco Bay Area. Key in this process is demonstrating the value of PCA programs for youth sport organizations (YSOs) and schools, resulting in an increased PCA Partnership base. The Partnership Sales Representative will report to the Director of Partner Development.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Sales focused: Successful Sales/Business Development experience in service industry
- Strong cold calling, negotiating and closing skills
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Confident presentation skills (phone and in person, including board presentations)
- Strong organizational skills: Must be able to multi-task effectively and have strong time management skills
- Conceptual selling skill is a plus; Must understand the products and position them with prospects
- Proven initiative/self-starter
- Passion for the PCA mission
- Requires occasional travel, week night and weekend work
- Coaching or other experience with youth sports is strongly desirable
- Strong computer skills
- College degree a plus
Partnership Development Responsibilities
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
- Prospect for partnership leads
- Identify key decision makers and the approval process within organizations
- Add quality prospects to existing pipeline on a weekly basis
- Negotiate and close partnerships with YSOs and Schools
- Maintain pro-active relationship with all Partners & Clients
- Foster high level of morale & commitment toward PCA
- Represent PCA at special events and PR opportunities in the Bay Area
Compensation
- Base salary ($35-$40K), plus commission and bonus structure
- Salary commensurate with experience
- There is no cap on commission

The Inside Sales Representative is responsible for prospecting, qualifying, developing and closing partnership opportunities in developing and Out-of-Territory (OOT) markets, in which PCA currently does not have a local presence. Key in this process is demonstrating the value of PCA programs for youth sport organizations (YSOs) and schools, resulting in an increased PCA Partnership base. The Inside Sales Representative will report to the Director of Partner Development. The office location will be in Sacramento, CA.
