Rodney Page

First African-American Head Coach, University of Texas

In 2017, Rodney Page was honored with the RecognizeGood Legend award in recognition of 45 years of impact and service in Education.  He is an accomplished and respected educator with his career having spanned all levels from University through Elementary.  He has served humanity and society as a teacher, coach, University Supervisor, consultant, advocate, and mentor to many - student and adult.

Rodney was the first women’s varsity basketball Head Coach at the University of Texas and the first African-American Head Coach of any sport at UT-Austin   He has a total of 31 years of successful, impactful teaching and coaching experience, which includes UT, AISD, and RRISD.  He is presently a Consultant at Success HS/RRISD where he serves as a Life Coach and Mentor for students and educators.  He assists students in navigating life, as well as working with educators to better understand and more successfully engage and impact the lives of at-risk students.  His personal mission is Building, Empowering, and Inspiring the lives of others.

His signature work includes initiating and establishing school-based mentoring and life coaching groups, as well as being recognized as the RRISD Secondary Teacher of the Year in 2003.  As a Board Certified Coach, Rodney Page continues the most important game of all, LIFE.
