PCA Workshop Descriptions


PCA's live group workshops provide the basis for a positive, character-building youth sports culture. Our dynamic PCA-Certified Trainers -- most of whom have coached at the high school level or beyond -- facilitate interactive discussions that help you shape the environment you want for your youth athletes.

Leading Your Organization: Developing a Positive Coaching Culture

School/YSO leaders learn how to shape organizational culture, including:

  • Definition of elements of a Positive Coaching Culture
  • How to establish and maintain the culture YOU want
  • Overview of the Double-Goal Coach®training their coaches will receive.


    Double-Goal Coach: Coaching for Winning and Life Lessons

    PCA’s core workshop trains Double-Goal Coaches, whose first goal is winning, and whose second, more-important goal is using sport to teach life lessons. Attendees learn how to improve athlete performance, while developing character through three principles:

  • Redefine "Winner"
  • Fill Emotional Tanks
  • Honor the Game.


    Double-Goal Coach: Culture, Practices and Games

    This intermediate workshop expands on our three principles to:

  • Help Coaches help athletes strive for excellence
  • Provide a “10-step Guide” to successful practice sessions
  • Explore the art of game coaching.


    Double-Goal Coach: Coaching The Mental Game

    This advanced workshop trains coaches to:

  • Help athletes understand characteristics of great competitors
  • Teach athletes to view pressure as a privilege
  • Give athletes the tools needed to prepare for competition before, during and after games.


    Double-Goal Coach: Developing Triple-Impact Competitors, a Workshop for High School Coaches

    Coaches of high school age athletes learn:

  • The difference between "participant" and "competitor"
  • Dozens of tools to help student athletes transition from participant to competitor
  • How to train athlete to improve themselves, their teammates and the game as a whole.

    The Second-Goal Parent: Developing Winners in Life through Sports

    Referring to the Double-Goal Coach’s second goal, parents learn how to teach life lessons through sports, including:

  • Recognition of the three major stages of talent development in youth athletes
  • Engaging in empowering conversations with your children
  • Structuring a positive parent/coach relationship.

    Becoming a Triple-Impact Competitor: A Leadership Workshop for High School Athletes

    In parallel to the "Developing Competitors" workshop, this workshop helps athletes cultivate passion for improving:

  • Themselves
  • Their teammates
  • The game as a whole.
