Director and founder of the Kilbourne Group, Burgum has established himself as a successful businessman, entrepreneur and philanthropist. A native of Arthur, ND, in 1983 Burgum established Great Plains Software Inc., a company named to Fortune magazine’s list of the “100 Best Companies to Work for in America” four times. In 2001, Microsoft Corporation acquired Great Plains for $1.1 billion, and Burgum joined Microsoft as Senior Vice President of the Microsoft Business Solutions group. In 2006, he founded the Kilbourne Group, dedicated to restoring and re-creating historic buildings in downtown Fargo, ND. The Doug Burgum Family Fund supports projects and programs supporting youth, education and health in the Fargo-Moorhead area.
