Bryant Ferate

University of Portland Sports Performance

Education: Ferate earned his bachelor’s of science degree from Washington State University and master’s of science from the University of Texas at Arlington. Prior to entering graduate school he had the opportunity to complete professional internships with Washington State University, University of Kentucky, and the University of Iowa Olympic Sports.

Sports Background:  He primarily competed in baseball growing up and enjoys the opportunity to work with wide range of sports/student-athletes in his current position at the University of Portland.  Ferate is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association and Strength & Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) through the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association.

Career Role and TitleAssistant Director of Sports Performance:  Bryant Ferate returned to the University of Portland Sports Performance staff in July of 2017. Ferate is responsible for working primarily with the Women’s Basketball, Baseball, Men’s Soccer, and Men’s Cross Country/Track & Field teams. He came back into a full time role at UP after serving as a Minor League Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Minnesota Twins Organization.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?  Outside of coaching, Ferate enjoys hiking, running, reading, podcasts, and connecting with others. Ferate joined PCA to be more involved in positively impacting the community by helping each individual be the best version of themselves through connection and building bridges between professionals/youth student-athletes in the Portland community.
