Journalist, Freelance Marketer
David led Positive Coaching Alliance marketing communications from September 2005 to August 2017. Responsibilities included: media relations; content marketing strategy and production for PCA websites and e-newsletters, as well as those of National Partners and Corporate Partners; creating and maintaining the Ask PCA blog; managing social media; recruitment and activation of a corps of grassroots advocates; creative conception and copywriting for sales and fundraising collateral; and writing and overseeing production of Momentum Magazine.
Before joining PCA, David ran SponsorWrite (2002-2005) a sole proprietorship marketing consultancy, serving corporations, agencies and rights-holders involved in sponsorship of sports, arts, entertainment, festivals, cultural institutions and causes. Earlier positions included The Exordium Group (1998-2001) , advising clients on leveraging their sponsorships; editor for IEG Sponsorship Report (1991-1997); and editor for Business Marketing Magazine (1989-1990). He has written freelance journalism, poetry and short fiction since 1978 and holds a BA in Journalism from the University of Minnesota.
David is a lifelong sports fan and participant, who still enjoys playing pick-up basketball and coached youth sports from 2000-2014. He enjoys time with his wife and grown children and other family and friends, travel, learning about different cultures and spiritual beliefs, advocating for civil rights, writing (without the Oxford comma) and reading.
