Wendy Nelson has more than 20 years of experience in governance and executive positions in the non-profit and for-profit sectors where she has contributed extensive financial, marketing, investment and leadership expertise to the organizations she has supported.
Nelson currently serves as vice chair of the Bush Foundation, vice president of the Carlson Family Foundation, trustee at Northwestern University and overseer at the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota. She is the past chair of the board of the Guthrie Theater.
Prior to serving in several executive positions for the global travel and hospitality company Carlson, Nelson worked in finance and capital management for the private equity firm, Lake Capital in Chicago. She is currently a board member for both The Rezidor Hotel Group and Carlson and also serves on the boards of Carlson Holdings and Carlson Real Estate.
Nelson holds a B.A. in philosophy from Northwestern University where she competed as a scholarship athlete for the Division 1 Women’s Tennis team and later competed professionally. She earned her MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern. Nelson lives in Minneapolis with her two children.
