Stephen Posner is currently the Associate Head Tennis Coach at Western New England University. He recently retired as Head Men’s Gymnastics Coach and Associate Professor in the School of Physical Education at Springfield College after 35 years. Steve previously coached the Men’s Gymnastics Team at SUNY at Cortland, Syracuse University. and Locust Valley High School.
His teams have developed many All-Americans and several team and individual champions. Steve was an NCAA All- American and National Champion at the University of California at Berkeley. He represented the United States as a member of the USA National Gymnastics Team for two years. After graduating from California Berkeley he became a graduate assistant coach while earning his MA at Syracuse University. Several years later he earned his Ph.D in Sport, Leisure and Exercise Science at the University of Connecticut while continuing his teaching and coaching at Springfield College.
He was awarded the coveted “Honor Coach Award” in 2007 for his 25 years of meritorious service to college gymnastics, and is also a published author. Stephen has three children whom he coached in several soccer and basketball developmental youth leagues. Two of his children went on to play varsity soccer at college. He continues to enjoy competitive sport playing USTA team tennis.
