Macy Taylor

Elyria High School; Softball, Volleyball, Athletic Trainer (Football)

Macy is a state champion softball player who will be continuing her playing career at Truman State University in Missouri where she plans to major in Exercise Science for pre-athletic training. The accolades and adjectives used by teammates, coaches, and teachers to describe Macy are overwhelmingly positive. She is a person with high standards and an incredible work ethic who treats all with respect, kindness, and encouragement – often dedicating herself to helping younger teammates and classmates learn and get better. As one nominator stated. “Macy is one of the most talented athletes on our team, but is always the first to give credit to others and deflect attention away from herself.

When she’s not on the court or field with her teammates, she volunteers as a youth volleyball coach, youth softball instructor, and works with Special Olympics. She was chosen to represent Elyria High School in the 2017 Leadership Lorain County class, is a member of the National Honors Society, volunteers with the Key Club at Elyria High School, and is a 4.0+ student.

Quote

"There is not a day that goes back that I don’t sit back and think how lucky I am to have this game be a part of my life. Without this game, I wouldn’t be the person I am today, and I wouldn’t trade it for the world. This game has introduced me to relationships that will last a life time. I know I will never be able to fully pay back this game, but to do my part in respecting it I dive, slide or “eat dirt” every chance I get. I enjoy and cherish every minute I spend on the field, because I know it won’t last forever. While it lasts, I will continue to respect the game of softball by playing with every ounce of energy and excitement in my body. It’s the least I could do to pay back to the game that has molded me into the person I am today."
