Hillsboro School District Partners with PCA-Portland

03.14.2017

Portland, OR – Hillsboro School District (HSD) is proud to announce a partnership with Positive Coaching Alliance-Portland to help enhance the positive sports culture for the school’s student-athletes, coaches and parents. PCA-Portland is the local chapter of the national non-profit Positive Coaching Alliance, committed to developing Better Athletes, Better People through youth and high school sports.

The partnership comprises live group workshops facilitated by certified PCA Trainers, books by PCA Founder Jim Thompson, online courses and follow-up communications to reinforce the training, all toward the creation of a positive, character-building sports experience at all four Hillsboro School District High Schools.

This spring (May 31 & June 1) all HSD Coaches and Directors will be invited to an end of season celebration to kick off the partnership. After dinner, PCA will host its “Double-Goal Coach®: Coaching for Winning and Life Lessons” workshopwhich helps coaches develop a personal coaching philosophy for pursuing wins and the more important goal of teaching life lessons through sports.

In the fall PCA will host preseason kick-off meetings for all HSD Parents as well as follow-up workshops for coaches to help work towards the District-wide commitment of “Better Athletes, Better People.”

“We look forward to working with the coaches, athletic directors, and sports community of Hillsboro School District to create the best possible experience for the student-athletes. Our research-based materials combine the latest in sports psychology, education and practical advice from top pro and college coaches and athletes that help improve athletic performance while also ensuring kids take life lessons from sports that will help them throughout the rest of their lives,” said Jack Hendrickson, PCA-Portland Partnership Manager.
